Inside the First Electric SUVW

Vehicle technology has truly evolved into something more than just wheeled vehicles on the road. Vehicle interior is now part of the many factors that make the car noteworthy. The Volkswagen ID4 interior concept of the car is a groundbreaking design.

VW’s new electric SUV is not just your typical SUV with new and smart features. The 75-year old company’s newest model will be the first to feature a fully digital interior.

This article takes you inside Volkswagen’s new ID4 interior ahead of its impending launch in the coming weeks.

How Many People Can Fit in the 2021 Volkswagen Id.4?

The ID.4’s interior is more sparse than the ID. Crozz Concept has evolved from its retractable steering wheel and sliding rear doors to offer high-tech features and ample cargo space, while still maintaining a contemporary design. The interior design is uncluttered and playful, especially the 1st Edition model, which has play and pause symbols on the accelerator and brake pedals.

Volkswagen’s ID.4 is a five-seater with roomy accommodations, a comfortable cabin, and a spacious interior.

LATCH Connectors

The rear outboard seats come with two complete sets of LATCH connectors and the middle seat has a tether anchor.

The VW ID.4 standard features include: six-way power adjustable and heated front seats, cloth upholstery, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Statement package adds faux-leather upholstery along with 12-way power adjustable front seats that have massage and memory function, as well as memory features.

Does the 2021 Volkswagen Id.4 Have Enough Room?

The cabin provides has enough space for its passengers. The VW ID.4 interior design is not as disorderly and provides an ample amount of open space. This way, front passengers are more comfortable. There are also three inches more of headroom compared to the Toyota RAV4 and 2.6 inches more than the Honda CR-V.

Shoulder Room

There are only minor differences in the front and rear shoulder room between three models that you can compare it to. The ID.4’s 37.6 inches of rear legroom matches that of the Toyota but falls short of the CR-V by almost 3 inches.

Five adults can sit in the ID.4, with 37.6 inches of legroom for the rear passengers. The ID.4 has no transmission tunnel, which means middle seat occupants are more comfortable.

There is generally plenty of headroom in both rows, and the optional glass roof has no effect on the headroom.

Cabin Space

With a panoramic glass roof, the ID.4 feels incredibly spacious and airy. Because of the lack of engine or transmission tunnels, the designers were able to create an ergonomically perfect interior with a lot of space.

How Much Cargo Can the 2021 Volkswagen Id.4 Carry?

Cargo Space

Despite its second row folding down for 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space, the Volkswagen ID.4 has just 30.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind it.

This is a good result for the electric and hybrid SUVs. Besides a hands-free power liftgate and adjustable cargo floor, the ID.4 offers a storage pass-through in the center of the rear seat.

Cargo Volume

With the rear seats folded down, the electric crossover has a cargo volume of 30.3 cubic feet, which expands to 64.2 cubic feet.

Feet Space

The ID.4 offers 30.3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats. While this is better than in any electric vehicle, there are SUVs with more space, like the Honda CR-V, which has a trunk measuring 39.2 cubic feet.

Cabin Storage Solutions

There are numerous clever storage solutions for small items in the ID.4. You can remove the cupholder tray between the seats and there is considerable storage space.

In addition to having storage, this area also offers a place for your phone to be wirelessly charged.

There are also front and rear door pockets, a glovebox, and rear phone pockets on the seatbacks.

Towing Capacity

The ID.4 models will all be able to tow a certain amount of weight. The RWD model can tow 2,200 lbs, while the AWD model can tow 2,700 lbs. A roof-rail will be a standard exterior storage solution on all models.

A few hundred pounds can be towed by the ID4.4 with a factory-installed towing hitch, but only if it’s equipped with one. As installed with the tow hitch, the ID.4 1st Edition is rated to tow 2200 pounds (with braked trailers) while all models with all-wheel drive are rated to tow 2700 pounds (with braked trailers).

What Are the Infotainment and Connectivity and Features of Volkswagen Id.4?

Standard on the ID.4 is a 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, which can be upgraded to a larger 12.0-inch display with the optional Statement package.

Base trim levels get a 10-inch Discover Pro touchscreen, while upper trim levels get a 12-inch Discover Pro Max display. Both screens work like smartphones, and can be customized with different colors and design schemes.

Should the driver not like the interface, he or she has the option to use Android Auto and Apple Inc. CarPlay. On the ID Cockpit display in front of the steering wheel, you can see information such as speed and driver assistance.

Assisted navigation comes as standard on both displays, as do Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, all ID. 4 models come with a 5.3-inch digital gauge display and voice recognition.

Seat Adjustments

As an entry-level model, it features manually adjustable four-way front seats with a power-reclining function on both sides.

An all-wheel drive version of the vehicle that has a second electric motor, reaching approximately 300 horsepower, will be available by late 2021. The result would be a 0-60 time of about 2 seconds faster.

The EPA-estimated range of ID.4’s single-motor vehicle is around 250 miles.

Level 2 chargers would take about 7.5 hours to completely recharge the battery pack, while an ultrapowerful 125-kW public charger would take just under 40 minutes to do the same.

How Will New Volkswagen ID.4 Owners Charge their Vehicle?

As if the new Volkswagen ID4 doesn’t get any better than being one of the few electric vehicles that have many notable features, Electrify Canada offers new electric vehicle owners 3 years’ worth of complimentary charging!

Canadian car owners can also use DC fast charging stations to get their electric motor a quick fix before hitting the road. There are many public DC fast charger ports in BC and all over Canada, so this wouldn’t be too much trouble for ID4 owners. Even with continuous use of the infotainment system and answering incoming calls, the all-new ID.4 can give its patrons an efficient driving experience.

Just remember to maintain good charging habits so you won’t run out of juice while you’re on the road.
